Description
D0104:
This is a very special Dergazine with a wonderful, classic Josan Design of meandering, serrated flower blossoms in the secondary border. The rare combination of salmon and blue dominate this piece. The indigo Midnight blue background offsets the 4-part feathered medallion with spidery bursts of blossoming flower sprays of coral, peach, apricot, green celadon, light and darker blues. Throughout the rest of the rug there are sprays of saffron, sand, sienna and russet brown, yellows, salmon and greens. .. all organic, vegetable dyes. This lovely Persian Lillihan/ Dergazine Josan was made prior to Second World War, in the Lilihan Region. The adjacent Hamadan region includes a number of villages within a 50 mile radius around the city of which the Dergazine rugs are included. It has a tighter weave, with highly twisted wool similar to the Senna weave. It is truly one of a kind and a rare combination of Lillihan, Dergazine and Josan design.
