Decorum Rugs carries only hand-knotted, hand-made rugs from all rug making regions primarily in Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Caucasus, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, India or other rug making regions in the Near, Mid and Far Eastern parts of the world. Our rugs or textiles are nomadic,village made, city made, and some well produced ‘production’ pieces overseen by master weavers and designers.

We specialize in Vintage and Antique Rugs that are primarily before 1940’s.

We love to educate, share our knowledge, do repairs that include reweaving and re-knotting and are great Rug Enthusiasts and Collectors.

1920'- 30's tribal Kolyai with Kurdish influence with a dominant willow tree and waterfall design woven with the deepest indigo blue, azure blue, terracotta rose and a pair of Islamic dates woven at the top.Often these dates were made up by the weaver, many of whom were not literate.

Signed Mashad Persian rug, 117″x147″, D0950

Signed Persian Mashed, 117"x147", D0950 The Meshed carpet in made in the Northeast area of Iran in the city of Mashad which is considered one of the holiest cities in Iran. This region of Iran is also known for the insect reds used as dyes in their yarns as well as the prominent medallion design in their rugs. Material: Wool on Cotton foundation Age: 1950's Condition: Good overall with some wear. All ends and sides are complete. There are no holes or discoloration and the carpet is floor ready. These pieces are known for their prominent central medallion and radiating cloud band and arabesque encircling motifs of stylized dragons and tendrils. Crimson rich reds from the cochineal beetle, natural, non synthetic blues and ivory are used extensively throughout the design. A Persian knot is used to create the floral and arabesque design. All sides and ends are intact. There are a few low areas as seen in the pictures which account for the lower price. If perfect, this rug would be priced at 3 times the current price. Antique Malayer runner, 36"x139", D0400 Beautiful 19th cen. (ca. 1890) Malayer runner with a Bakshaish border and a herati (fish and garden) design in the field. This beautiful antique rug is all wool with all natural, deep-saturated dyes. It is in very good condition and will look wonderful in a hall, a kitchen (as shown), or alongside a main rug (in the Persian manner).
