Decorum Rugs Collection

D0149:   Antique Ersari Turkmen Wedding Tribal Rug, True Nomadic piece

This is an Antique Ersari Turkmen wedding Tribal rug made by the Ersari’s who belong to one of the 4 Turkmen nomadic tribes who live in North Eastern Iran, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan. The other nomadic  tribes of this region are the Yomut, Sarryk, Salor, and Tekke. The nomadic life of these rugs requires them to be thin, so that they are easy to roll up and move as the tribe changes its tenting places for sheep grazing. Famous coral reds, ocher, deep blues, indigo with extremely finely woven wool with fine weave are characteristic of these rugs.
Condition: Good antique condition with original sides and minor ends loss. Rug has been professionally cleaned. There a one small area as seen in picture with some wear, but is commensurate with its age.
