Description: 52.25″ by 82.25″ 1920’s American Sarouk, Fine Weave, Worn Condition, No holes or Tears
This is a medium size American ‘painted’ Sarouk made in the Arak region in Northwest Central Iran. These rugs were very popular and in high demand in the 1920’s -1930’s by the American and European markets. Americans preferred the darker reds and rugs exported to the USA were darkened or painted with a deeper red dye. This rug has a cherry red field with scattered jewel like flowers arranged in balanced sprays. It has very low pile, but finely knotted with a high knot count of 144 KPSI (knots per square inch). Sarouks are known for their extremely resilient, shiny wool, fine weave, and jewel colors, It will bring elegance to any room and is a good size at 4.5 feet by 7 feet.
This is a wonderful one of a kind piece that can be used on the floor for many decades to come.
