Antique Afstafa Shirvan Prayer Rug, 1890
This rug was woven in 1890 in the village Shirvan which is located just to the south of the Caucasus mountain range and is to the east of Gendje and to the west of the Baku peninsula. This rug reflects the nomadic and tribal design and weaving traditions of the Azerbaijani tribe prior to the occupation of the Soviets. The 3-D effects of the natural dyes enhance the dyes and the design of this rug.
This is a wonderful one of a kind, collectible piece that can be used on the floor or hung on the wall for many decades to come.
