Antique Mahal/ Meshkabad, 1910, 53″ x 82.5″ D0116

$750.00

Beautiful ca. 1910 Mahal Meshkabad rug made in northwestern Persia.  This is a sought after design and vintage found in a great antique piece.  It is in very good antique condition with consistent overall low pile, but NO worn spots, and fully intact selvages and ends. This sophisticated rug is quite a stunner.

Great for traditional settings where the grace of a piece of this kind provides warmth and authenticity to any decor.

Description

An antique, one of a kind, hand-knotted Persian Meshkabad, made in Iran with all natural dyes and hand-spun wool taken from the spring-time shearing of lambs.  Woven with the typical Meshkabad border of solo floral motifs spaced almost evenly around the border and with that special overall floral design that is sometimes mistakenly confused with the herati (fish) design.  The rug measures approximately 4.5 x 7 ft, and its central medallion is offset by a ¼ medallion design in the corners (spandrels) of the rug. This antique beauty has overall wear commensurate with its age; ends and sides are fully intact.

This rug will command a sense of old world elegance wherever it is placed in a room.
