Shahsavan Wool and Silk Soumak with a panoply of birds and other creatures.

49″x83″

Wool on wool with interior ivory woven silk field.

80+ years old in very good condition.

Soumaks were made with long loose wool left on the back of the rugs that served both as insulation and padding.

This one has more than 70 birds and other creatures woven in the field.
