1930 NW Persian Kurd Medallion with Bakshaish border, D0371

This is an elegant rug in excellent condition with thick pile displaying brilliant natural dyes of persimmon and robbin’s egg blue.   The rug features a large medallion with an open field of abrashed persimmon red, balanced with quarter-size medallions in each corner spandrel.

Symbolic dragons appear from each spandrel reaching toward the center medallion.

Ca. 1930 NW Persian Kurdish rug, with Bakshaish border, D0371
Dim: 56″x72″
Condition: Excellent, with full pile.
Material: Extremely fine wool pile knotted on a cotton foundation.
Origin: Northwest Persia
Remarks: This is a remarkably elegant rug with thick pile throughout, originating from the region of northwest Persia. Note the Bakshaish border and in particular the wonderful abrash through all the colors.  This is an indication of natural dyes and hand-dyed and hand-spun wool.
