Antique Khamseh rug from Southwest Iran (D0168)
DIM: 47″ X 66″
Material: Wool on wool with Goat hair, all tribal natural dyes with hand spun wool and dyes.
Condition:
Very blanket-like, with all natural wool used for warped and fringes.
Remarks: Known as the Khamseh Bird rug, count the many birds which are a sign of happiness and good luck. These rugs are known for their superior wool and golden yellows, burnished reds and brown and jem like blues.
These semi-nomads weave rugs that are easy to roll up and carry from fall to spring quarters.
