Old NW Persian, Hamadan rug, D0401
Description: Lovely old Hamadan rug from one of 500 Hamadan villages with a very unique design and color pallette. In overall very good condition, made in the 1930’s.
As all Hamadan Village rugs, it is hand-knotted wool on a cotton foundation with wool that was hand spun and dyed with natural and mineral dyes. There are many special dyes in this rug of lavender, forest brown, mustard yellow, light mint green and forest green. It has a unique and rare design which includes 3 tree of life designs with one prominent and center on the rug, and a main border of repeating leaf and flower groups seen on many antique Hamadan rugs. Truly, one of a kind.
